Metric Launches LINK™ Percutaneous Dynamic Compression Bone Fixator

SAN ANTONIO, May 31, 2024 –

Metric Medical Devices, Inc., an orthopedic extremity company producing bone fixation devices that change shape to “Bring Bones Together” during healing, announces the Food and Drug Administration Clearance to Market and U.S. market availability of its new LINK™ Percutaneous Dynamic Compression Bone Fixator.

The LINK™ is an external bone fixation device intended to provide minimally invasive continuous dynamic compression for osteotomy, fracture or arthrodesis fixation. The design utilizes the shape changing LINK™ to act on percutaneous bone pins to fixate and instantaneously exert compressive forces on the bone healing interface.

“The LINK™ is designed for immediate bone fracture fixation without open surgery and fixation in minimally invasive procedures. We expect the lack of surgical trauma involving cutting, stripping, drilling, implant placement and skin closure and the secondary injury caused by this procedure will allow the patient’s healing response to focus on the fracture,” said W. Casey Fox, Ph.D., P.E., founder and CEO of Metric. “The patented design of the LINKTM exerts high continuous dynamic bone fixation forces on pins placed through the skin and into bone so placement can be achieved without general anesthesia,” he added.

Similar to the company’s other products, the LINK™ device comes in sterile packaging, is single use, and is instantaneously active in fixating bone. Pins and a LINK™ protective cover complete the device. Two and four pin LINK™ products are available and provide 14 to 16 pounds of compressive force.

Metric Medical Devices, Inc. specializes in the development and commercialization of a family of shape changing bone fixation products to advance the musculoskeletal repair standard.
